nabeelw Full member - Member Since: Sep 2005 Subject - Tracking Sales on a Daily Basis Sales tracking on daily basis is very important to keep up with your sales targets and monitor the activities of your sales force as well as the market trend.
When you have an annual database of your previous sales track year by year you will be able to predict the motion of your market, thus you will be able to tell when your sales will boost and when it may go down, and why.
The most effective method to follow is an Excel file; create a table that states each (Product or Service) target, based on calculation of expenses, costs and targeted revenues.
Below that you will state your daily sales of those products or services, brought to that cell from another workbook. Underneath you will calculate the percentage achieved each day for each category.
To measure whether you are working up-to-day-to-day target calculate the days passed of the month over the number of days in the month. At the bottom of your table you may calculate percentage of Sales Achieved over percentage of days passed of the month.
The attached file is an excel workbook made specially to measure daily sales track of The Scientific Center in Kuwait, the first sheet specifies the achieved targets in the previous year, in addition to a comparison with the current year.
Going to the second sheet you will find a summary of the annual target of the current fiscal year Oct. 2004 – Sept. 2005, the information on this sheet comes collected from the following sheets of each month of the year.
Each month has a separate sheet that is fed from another workbook where sales are entered for every attraction at The Scientific Center.
The Graph Sheet reads the month-to-month sales motion (in visitors’ numbers) and feed it into a graph, showing each one of the attraction’s motion on monthly basis.
There is another sheet following this one where calculation of occupancy is made by hour, by attraction by day.
The last Graph is the Global Visitors’ motion month by month for The Scientific Center.
Now what we will benefit from reading those tables and graphs?
We will be able to monitor the activity of each attraction, stating which of the months are the lowest (i.e. in Kuwait during the fasting month of Ramadan; number of visitors go down).
We will be also able to state exactly when the drops have happened, and accordingly be simply referring to the marketing plan of the year will be able to state why that drop happened and what caused it.
This will be fed back to the Marketing Department to measure the effectiveness of their plans and accordingly rectify the cause.
Now you may read the attachment, you may also try to apply that for your own business… But remember that this was created by Nabeel S. Al Wazzan.
The File could not be attached you may find it here : http://www.geocities.com/nabeelw/tracking.xls
