i have recently joined a semi-govt org in the role of business development person for selling training packages (need based and previous training......precisely technical engineering training).

Accordingly I have to meet the concerned say Training/Hr manager in concerned industry verticals

The problem that I am facing...
  1. firstly, this is the time of the year....when most of prominent companies have there training calender, already set......at first they just refuse
  2. secondly, even if by chance i am able to talk to concerned and explain....about our offering....they refuse,,,,saying as n when required they will get back to us......which i presume is a nicer way to refuse too
  3. If by chance client shows any interest for any of our need based training.....then we expect them to clearly define their training requirements to us (too clearly understand their requiremnt) ........which is also not working.....don't know.....perhaps clients take this as passive approach to their requirement/need
  4. also, being semi govt.......my seniors.....believe in sanction based authoritative leadership........so instances when i cannot commit on my own.....or either have to defer till i get it confirmed........which as a person i understand too is not acceptable to clients.
This all is so distressing to me.......not able to work out any solution,
This is affecting me badly........i think i am not able to deliver what am i supposed to deliver to my organization

Pls suggest any ways.......to work out this problem

LOOK I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE PRODUCT OR SERVICE THAT YOU ARE TRYING TO PROMOTE...

BUT GOING THROUGH YOUR LETTER I FEEL THAT YOU NEED TO INVESTIGATE MORE OF YOUR CLIENTS BEFORE VISITING THEM....

DON'T APPROACH THE DECISION MAKING PERSON DIRECTLY,,, FIRST TRY TO GET THE COMPANIES INFORMATION, REQUIREMENT AND STATUS FROM SOME SUBORDINATE PERSON...

BEFORE MEETING THE HEAD REHERSE ON WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO TELL ME /OFFER HIM ON THE BASIS OF INFORMATION COLLECTED BY YOU.....

DON'T LEAD CONVERSATIONS TO DEAD END...

IN CASE IF A CLIENT SAYS THAT HE WILL CALL U AND TELL...ASK HIM POLIETY WHETER YOU CAN STAY IN TOUCH WITH HIM....AND REMEMBER TO CALL BACK THAT CLIENT AFTER A PERIOD OF TWO WEEKS FROM THE DATE YOU VISIT HIM...THIS IS KNOWN AS FOLLOW UP.

SECONDLY BE SURE ON THE CRITERIAS WHERE YOU CAN NEGOTIATE....OR THE PRICE RANGE WITHIN WHICH YOU CAN PLAY I.E A PRODUCT CAN BE SOLD BETWEEN rSA. 20 TO rS. 30...SO U CAN CHARGE EITHER 23,24,28 AS PER THE CLIENT.

IN CASE IF SOMETHING IS BEYOND YOUR AUTHORITY AND YOU NEED YOUR SUPERIORS APPROVAL...SAY IT FRANKLY TO THE CUSTOMER...TELL HIM U NEED TO PUR A PROPOERSAL TO YOUR HIGHER UP AND YOU WILL LET HIM KNOW SOON....
AND REMEMBER TO CALL HIM SOON.

And Yes One More Thing......get Information When The Next Training Session Will Start And Contact Before That...remind Customer That You Had Visited Him Before And He Told U That New Session Will Start Etc Etc I Hope U Understand

Your problem covers so many things. we cant answer it. first let me know about your product then surely i can help you out with your correct pitch. Mean while just remember one thing that sales person should should not give up just keep going, all the best.

do only one thing assume urself as a customer and identify where u are lacking this is the best thing that u can do...because self assessment will brings u right direction with ur manner........
and one more thing don't get tens. coz it will block ur sense of thinking.... just cool ...:smile:
