Marketing is set of backend activities like deciding who your customer? How to attract your customer? Setting a trap?
Sales is more of set of frontend activities like actually being on the field in the market, approaching the customers and making them buy your product.
If we try and relate this to a process of hunting in a jungle.
Marketing is setting trap for animals and attracting animals towards the trap.
Sales is actually killing the animals when they come in the range of target.

simple :
if you have head ache, whats the reply from markerting person and sales person
1) marketing person :
i am having only for the stomach ache tablet not for the head ache and i will refer to my friend he will suggest the best and he is having more than 10 yrs experience
2) sales person :
take this tablet this will cure for head ache, stomach ache, back bone pain, fever, cold etc...

He always like to push the product from him
this is the difference btwn mrktng and sales person

marketing is to create awareness about product/services among your targeted audience/customer, who could be your future buyers.
when buyers make transaction for such products/services then it is sales
